Christine specialises in figurative sculptures and portraiture. She endeavours not just to capture a likeness but to show life and natural movement in each piece. Her work comprises short run limited editions and individual commissions.
After training at Wolverhampton College of Art from 1965 until 1967 Christine has followed a varied career, including work in the fashion industry. She eventually had her own studio and gallery in Devon from which she sold her paintings, portraits and illustrations. The Sculptural form, especially the human body has, however, always been of particular interest and Christine finally had the opportunity to concentrate fully on a career as a sculptor after moving with her family to Surrey in 1994.
Christine was elected as a full member of the Society of Women Artists in 2007.
Her sculptures have been exhibited at RHS Wisley, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Borde Hill Gardens, Nymans Gardens, King Edwards’s School, Osterley Park, Savill Garden, Painshill Park, The Royal School and Michelham Priory, as well as in galleries throughout the U.K.
Exhibitions in London have included the Mall Galleries and the Westminster Gallery. Locally she exhibits with Guildford Arts, Guildford Art Society and Surrey Sculpture Society, as well as holding a number of private exhibitions.
Christine welcomes visitors to her home, where a large selection of her work is on display and work-in-progress can be viewed.
Christine has just completed two life-size figures for the new Children’s Remembrance Garden at Guildford Cathedral. They are called 'Seeds of Hope Sculptures'. The garden was opened by the children's author Dame Jacqualine Wilson on 1 May 2008.
Her latest news is that she has been made an ARBS.
